The fuel cell reactions occur in the catalyst layer. The anode catalyst layer breaks the hydrogen fuel into protons and electrons, and the at the cathode catalyst layer, oxygen combines with the protons to form water. These catalyst layers are often the thinnest in the fuel cell (5 to 30 microns), but are often the most complex due to having several types of solids, gases and water at electrochemical interface. The catalyst layers are usually made of a porous mixture of carbon supported platinum or platinum/ruthenium. Read more about fuel cell catalysts -->
Clean Fuel Cell Energy offers several types of catalysts for your fuel cell applications. Platinum catalyst is available from a 10% wt. to 60% wt. on carbon black Vulcan XC-72R. For direct methanol fuel cell applications, we offerseveral Platinum and Ruthenium catalysts on carbon black Vulcan XC-72R. This catalyst is preferred for DMFC due to the higher tolerance of CO poisoning. We also offer other Platinum and Carbon based catalysts upon request.
Clean Fuel Cell Energy also offers Carbon Black XC-72, Carbon Black XC-72R and Black Pearls 2000 without noble metals.
